Vessels as Texts

Ceramic vessel by Elvira Andreani | Lost in Fiber Library

Several vessels in the library collection speak volumes as forms with unique narratives and personal histories. Some of these pieces were created by family members and friends, other were acquired from the artists themselves or gallery spaces.

For Sedimental Edition 01, we have featured works by the following artists / ceramicists:

Elvira Andreani

Delores Coan

Eli Rae Wilson

I have always contemplated the idea that a vessel might be read as a dimensional text for storytelling. This curiosity began during my studies in the classics and while examining artifacts from the Ancient World.

Today, I think of ceramic pieces in the library as records of the memories and processes of the artists – their distillation of the elements and experiences, turning over time.
